From black-and-white beginnings to an illustrated quarterly
Founded by James R. Beach, Dark Discoveries grew from an independent black-and-white periodical into a perfect-bound, full-colour magazine published by JournalStone. Across its history, it has brought together short fiction, interviews, articles, profiles, reviews, and artwork from the horror, dark fantasy, and science-fiction communities.
Past contributors and subjects have included Ray Bradbury, Richard Matheson, H. R. Giger, William F. Nolan, Ramsey Campbell, EC Comics, Joe R. Lansdale, Brian Lumley, Joe Hill, and many more.
